Amla Extract comes from the Indian Gooseberry Tree, Phyllanthus emblica. This tree is naturally found in India and the Middle East. Amla is the Hindi name and it is also known as Amalaki in Sanskrit. About The Amla Tree

The Amla tree grows to 8 – 18m tall. It is easily distinguished by it’s crooked trunk and spreading branches. The tree is sacred in India.

Fruit from the tree is almost perfectly spherical. The fruit is a light green/yellow colour and is completely edible, although it has a sour taste. There are six vertical stripes on the fruit, which is hard and smooth to the touch. It looks similar to the gooseberry, hence it’s other name, Indian Gooseberry.
